Your questions
answered…

Q. Can anyone be a Group Leader of a Charis Bible Study?

A. Charis Bible Study Group Leaders must be graduates of Charis Bible College (having completed two or more years of study). Andrew Wommack Ministries Australia (AWMA) Study Group Leaders do not need to be Charis graduates but must be approved by AWMA using approved AWM materials.

Q. Can I start a Charis Bible Study internationally?

A. Yes. We welcome Charis Bible Studies in New Zealand, provided there is a qualified Charis graduate (2+ years) available to lead the group. AWMA Study Groups are also open across both Australia and New Zealand.

Q. Do attendees have to pay a fee to attend a study group?

A. No. All AWMA and Charis Bible Studies are completely free for attendees. Participation is voluntary and there are no attendance fees.

Q. Do attendees receive “credit(s)” for completing studies?

A. There are no credits awarded for completing or being a part of a study group.

Q. Do I have to have an established group to start a study?

A. No. You can apply as a group leader with no established group or individuals to start.

Q. Do I have to provide copies of lessons for attendees?

A. Leaders are not required to provide physical copies or materials to attendees of the group. It is up to the leaders to specify what they are requiring attendees to have for the duration of the study.

Q. How far in advance do I plan my next study?

A. Please try to submit your group details three to four weeks before the planned start date. This gives people in your area time to find and register for your study.

Q. When or why would an attendee be withdrawn from a study group?

A. Leaders should first address any issues privately with grace and clarity. An attendee may be withdrawn if they miss three consecutive weeks without explanation (to make room for those on a possible waiting list) or for ongoing disruptive behaviour. The Leader should notify the person kindly by email or phone. All discipline should reflect Christ-like love and follow the guidelines in the Leader Responsibilities document.

Q. What is the vision for Study Groups Australia and New Zealand?

A: Facilitate connection between like-minded believers who want to be discipled based on the truth of the Gospel. Enable Charis graduates and Certified Group Leaders to build connections and empower the body of Christ through the revelation of the Word.

Q. What is the mission of Study Groups Australia and New Zealand?

A: Equip the body of Christ with meaningful relationships, a sound learning environment, and the life-giving message of God’s unconditional love and grace.

Q. What are the core values of Study Groups Australia and New Zealand?

A: AWM Study Groups and Charis Bible Studies are built on the pillars of discipleship, connection, and relationship. We will interact with all Study Group participants with integrity, efficiency, and accountability. We believe that through relationships and teaching the Word, people’s needs can be met more effectively. Through discipleship in the Word, lives are transformed, leaders are trained, and communities are impacted.

Q. How often should a group meet, and how long does a study take?

A: Leaders have flexibility to meet weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Most studies have 14–26 lessons. For example, Spirit, Soul, and Body (23 lessons) typically takes 5–6 months if meeting once per week. The Discipleship Evangelism course is different with 48 lessons but you will have the flexibility to go through the lessons according to your group schedule.

Q. Is there any insurance or liability coverage provided by AWMA?

A: No. Leaders and attendees participate as volunteers. All participants are responsible for their own safety and well-being. We strongly encourage Leaders to consider appropriate personal insurance for their role.

Q. Are there rules about promoting other products or businesses in the group?

A: Yes. All groups must maintain a strictly non-commercial environment. Promoting personal businesses, products, services, supplements, or affiliate links is not permitted and may result in removal from leadership.

Q. What do I need to agree to before leading a group?

A: All approved Leaders must read, understand, and agree to the Group Leader Responsibilities, Conduct, Notice, Release, and Waiver document, as well as uphold the Charis Bible College Doctrinal Statement and the Ministry Statement of Faith.

Q. How is my personal information and any photos/videos handled?

A: All personal data is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Australia) and Privacy Act 1993 (New Zealand). Photos or recordings will only be used for ministry purposes with prior consent. Attendees can choose “Yes” or “No” on the Attendee Notice, Release, and Waiver form.
